Dental Crowns
A dental crown, also known as a dental cap, is a prosthetic restoration that is used to cover and protect a damaged, decayed, or aesthetically compromised tooth. It is made of zirconia and designed to mimic the natural appearance and function of a tooth, providing strength, durability, and improved aesthetics to the tooth it covers.
Dental crowns are commonly used to address various dental issues, including:
- Protecting Weak Teeth: If a tooth is weakened due to extensive decay, cracks, or fractures, a dental crown can provide support and prevent further damage.
- Restoring Broken or Worn Teeth: Crowns are often used to restore teeth that are broken, worn down, or otherwise structurally compromised, allowing the tooth to function properly again.
- Covering Large Fillings: When a tooth has a large filling and there isn’t enough natural tooth structure left, a crown can be placed over the remaining tooth to provide reinforcement.
- Improving Aesthetics: They can be matched to the color and shape of your natural teeth, enhancing your smile’s appearance.
Dental Bridge
A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap between two healthy teeth or dental implants. It “bridges” the gap created by missing teeth and restores the function and appearance of the mouth. Dental bridges are an effective solution for improving chewing ability, speech, and aesthetics, while also preventing potential issues that can arise from tooth loss, such as shifting of surrounding teeth and jawbone deterioration.
