Here at our DDG office, we offer many types of sedation:
-
Laughing Gas
Laughing gas is an extremely common and safe approach to alleviating your anxiety and fear, in order to help you relax before your dental visit. Laughing gas is a benign , controlled sedation option that acts rapidly to calm you down so you can get through your dental treatment easily, and it has the benefit of wearing off in time for you to be able to competently drive home at the end of your visit.
-
Oral Conscious Sedation
Another common yet more potent means of dental sedation available at DDG is mild to moderate oral sedation. Our DDG doctors can prescribe medications in order to relax and sedate you before you begin your dental treatment. However, these medications may cause you to feel drowsy, so you will need a family member or friend to drive you to the office and take you home after the appointment. There are many benefits to using oral conscious sedation; including: patient is awake during the procedure so you can interact with your DDG dentist, you become relaxed during your dental procedure, you remain conscious throughout the procedure so the dentist can give you instructions and communicate with you, you become relaxed during your actual treatment time in the dental chair, your experience is pleasant and helps motivate you to return to the dentist and maintain the health of your teeth, and finally, medication is ingested so no need for masks or intravenous injections.
