Impacted Wisdom Teeth
When a wisdom tooth has failed to erupt passed the tissue of the gum then it is considered to be “impacted”, and this partial eruption makes extraction more complicated yet even more necessary. If not removed in a timely manner, impacted wisdom teeth can affect the health of your jaw and adjacent tooth, causing discomfort. The situation is exacerbated when the wisdom tooth emerges partially at a diagonal or odd angle, leaving areas vulnerable to bacteria build up and possible infection. In such cases, the earlier the extraction, the less complications are likely to occur because of these impacted teeth.
When wisdom teeth grow normally
Many people do in fact have sufficient space in the jaw for their wisdom tooth to grow in a healthy and non-problematic way. However, sometimes these people still remain vulnerable to having their wisdom teeth decaying because of their inaccessibility being located at the back of the mouth, making it difficult to effectively brush and floss those areas.
